Responsibilities

The Maintenance Supervisor leads mechanical maintenance activities for critical cement plant equipment, including kilns, mills, crushers, and material handling systems. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and supporting continuous production through effective maintenance execution and rapid response to equipment issues.

 

  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with company safety standards, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Supervise and coordinate all mechanical maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily maintenance tasks ensuring timely completion of work orders.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify improvements through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with production, electrical, and engineering teams for shutdowns, overhauls, and capital projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations and give all required notification to internal resources and regulatory agencies.
  • Review and approve maintenance work orders, labor reports, and parts requisitions in the CMMS.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate mechanical maintenance personnel.
  • Manage maintenance resources efficiently, controlling costs and use of materials and labor.
  • Participate in reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices, industrial equipment systems, and rotating machinery.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, develop, and motivate maintenance personnel in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, prioritize work activities, and coordinate resources to support safe and reliable plant operations.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening, including drug/alcohol testing, background check, and medical clearance.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; journeyman-level certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment, including 2-3 years in a supervisory, lead, or foreman role.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, maintenance scheduling systems, and work management processes.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA), and equipment reliability practices.
  • Experience in cement, mining, aggregates, or other heavy manufacturing industries preferred.

  • Ability to effectively plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance activities while managing labor and resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with maintenance teams, operations personnel, contractors, and plant leadership.
  • Ability to analyze equipment performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Technical Knowledge

  • Familiarity with environmental, quality, and operational compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of maintenance work management systems, procurement processes, inventory management, and maintenance reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning, asset management, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance data and utilize performance metrics to improve equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
