Responsibilities

  • Schedule, supervise and take part in quality studies for all quality systems; plan, design, coordinate and schedule quality improvement projects; and train and support plant personnel in quality activities
  • Work closely with Plant Management, Plant Supervisors, Maintenance and Process Engineers to address quality concerns, develop and implement regular quality system analysis programs and prepare quality materials.
  • Understands and uses ASTM, AASHTO and Plant Quality Standards Manuals.
  • Support the Quality Manager and the quality team to resolve any customer complaints regarding cement quality or delivery of the final product.
  • Promote ongoing improvement in quality and quality systems.
  • Support the Quality Manager to work with DOT for cement approval and Federal agencies to certify lab procedures and equipment.
  • On-call for covering plant needs, both routine and emergency need as required, and fills in for Quality Manager as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s plant rules for conduct, health and safety, and environmental issues.
  • Works with State DOT for cement approval and Federal Agencies to certify lab procedures and equipment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or technical discipline
  • 3- 5 years in an industrial environment preferred
  • Minimal experience (internship considered)
  • Familiarity with operational aspects of Cement Industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build consensus and confidence
  • Self-starter and inquisitive by nature
  • Able to develop long-term solutions for repair and maintenance problems
  • Solid computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Environmental, Safety and Health, and company policies
  • Requires physical dexterity and strength to lift objects and to move through close areas
  • Physical environment is in the plant – dusty, noisy and potentially hazardous
  • Some travel to training seminars or to other company plants
  • Candidate should have a strong technical background with excellent interpersonal skills
