Responsibilities

  • Directs the activities of the manufacturing departments to effectively maximize production within the limits of established quality and cost standards.
  • Issues instructions/directions to the Production Superintendent covering performance, manpower requirements, scheduling and quality standards.
  • Ensures the efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.
  • Investigates and reports on accidents involving employees and equipment. Promotes and enforces safe working practices and good housekeeping.
  • Performs analysis and prepares special reports as assigned by Plant Manager.
  • Holds leadership position for various plant programs such as the power management program, plant energy team, and the alternate fuels program, with regards to their implementation, cost structure, continuity, allocation of resources, and permitting.
  • Establishes training program for assigned personnel and monitor employee progress; set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback to employees.
  • Maintains current knowledge of collective bargaining agreement and related plant policies. Seeks opportunities to promote and instill an attitude of cost and profit consciousness among all employees.
  • Continue self improvement activities especially in the area of production for mining and cement making operations.
  • Compiles the annual budget for the operation department. Monitors expenditures against approved budget plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years in an industrial environment
  • Preferable cement process knowledge
  • Proficiencies in chemistry and plant operations
  • Candidate should have a strong technical background with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Requires physical dexterity and strength to lift heavy objects and move through close areas
  • Physical environment in the plant is dusty, noisy and potentially hazardous
  • Requires travel with some extended periods away from home facility to work with other Buzzi Unicem USA facilities
